6th International Conference on Sodium Calcium Exchanger

Dear Colleague:

On the behalf of the International Scientific Committee, I have the great pleasure to invite you to participate to the 6th International Conference on Sodium Calcium Exchanger that will be held on 1-5 October 2011 at the Regina Isabella Convention Center of Lacco Ameno, Ischia, a charming island in the Bay of Naples. Ischia is one of the three islands of the gulf of Naples with a beautiful and peaceful enviroment and that can be reached from Naples by hydrofoils and boats in 30-45 minutes. Naples is distant about 1 hour from Rome by train, and the International “Capodichino” airport of Naples is directly connected to the main Italian and European cities. The Meeting will be basic and translational research oriented and will host scientists from overall the world performing their research activities on the structural and functional properties of the Sodium Calcium Exchanger and other partner proteins expressed on the plasmamembrane and involved in ionic homeostasis.

The scientific program will include all topics related to the Sodium Calcium Exchanger:

[1] Structural Features of NCX ; [2] Functional Regulation of NCX; [3] Molecular Biology of NCX; [4] Gene Transcription Regulation of NCXs; [5] Genetics and Epigenetics of NCX; [6] Biophysical and Electrophysiological Properties NCX; [7] Tissue and Cellular Distribution of NCX; [8] NCX in Mitochondria, Endoplasmic Reticulum and Nucleus; [9] NCX Knocking Out and Overexpression in Physiological and Pathophysiological Conditions; [10] NCX Interaction with Proteins Involved in Ionic Homeostasis; [11] NCX Partners in Ionic Homeostasis:  TRPC, ASIC, NHE, NKCC, Na/K+ ATPase, Ca2+ ATPase; [12] NCX in the Heart and Smooth Muscle; [13] NCX and Hypertension; [14] NCX in the CNS; [15] NCX and Glial Cells;[16] NCX and Immune System; [17] NCX in Pancreas and Kidney; [18] NCX and Bone Tissue; [19] NCX and Neurological Disorders; [20] NCX Gene Polymorphisms and their Clinical Implications [21] NCKXs; [22] Drugs Activating or Inhibiting NCX: State of the Art and Development Perspectives

The program will comprise both state-of-the art lectures and free oral and/or poster communications. Time for short presentations of important new late-breaking science to add to the exciting scientific sessions already scheduled is also reserved. The international scientific Committee will place particular emphasis on poster presentations and their discussion. Consequently, no other session will take place while poster are being presented. You are warmly encouraged to submit original communications that will be examined and assigned to the program by the International Scientific Committee. The participation of young investigator is encouraged, therefore reduced registration fee and a limited number of travel accommodation grants will be provided. You will have the opportunity to book accommodation at the Hotel Regina Isabella, a thermal station close to the beach with confortable rooms at a special price, including breakfast, reserved to meeting participants. In the same place there are also cheaper hotels and bed and breakfast accommodations for young scientists. Meals (lunch and dinner) may be served in the Hotel Regina Isabella.

All information concerning the meeting including the preliminary program can be requested at the following e-mail address lannunzi@unina.it

Please fill-up the Registration Form

We look forward to welcome you in Ischia, Naples, Italy and to share with you our passion for both quality scientific research and efficient networking advances in NCX.

Kindest Regards

Lucio Annunziato
